Wednesday, march 13

On Wednesday, march 13 in our concept development class we talked about our finals and watched video. However, all the time, I was thinking about my final video that we have to make. I was thinking what I can do to make it more interesting and attractive. The words and the pictures that I have to use should communicate my point and I was thinking to figure out what to use for images and for text. During class time I was only thinking my final video.

My video would be about global warming. There are many things that involve in global warming. However, I found information that I haven't notice that those could make global warming, such as livestock, and leave computes on during nighttime. I learn so many interesting think during my research for this project. I really enjoyed making video and telling my point by really short video.

Thank you watching it

Monday, March 11

On Monday, March 11 in our concept development class we watched a documentary video of Lynda. That documentary video was about AIGA, American Institution of Graphic Arts organization.
By watching this video I got many interesting information about AIGA organization. I noticed that AIGA is a natural organization for designers, which has 64 chapters and over 20 thousand members. In this document Lynda interviewed some people who were working for that organization. One of the interviewed was with Rick Grefe; the executive director. He talks about different ways that designers use to inspire their audience. He mentioned that design is very important for everyone and he talked about various new designs for global problems that every single are facing with.
This subject got my attention because recently we work on a presentation video that could communicate perfectly with our audience. The subject of our video is one of the global problems. We always deal with global problems, such as clean air and water, trashes, energy, economy, finances and so on. The way that we communicate with our audiences is very important. We should know what kind of type and color we use to get our audiences' attention. The picture and song that we use are the other important fact that could effect on our audience. All principal of design have to work together to change the audience feeling and give them new information to do something to save our planet earth.

Final Project

The subject of our concept development class on Wednesday, March 6 was talking about our finals. Our teacher Jimmy asked us about our final projects and what we have done for it. Each of us had different ideas about save the planet subject. Most of us have already decided what we goanna do. While jimmy asked our subject, he talked and explained how to make them in order to communicate better. He said that we have to think about and ask ourselves few questions, such as what we want our audiences think, know, fell and do. The starting point is to make a research about our subjects and our points and find related information about that topic. He also mentioned that we have to make sure that our sources are valid.

After going through each person’s ideas, jimmy asked to draw our story board which means the slides that we going to have in our videos. We had to think about the placement, text, sound, and images. While I was working on my story board I explained my slides and idea to jimmy, and I found out that I was choosing a really big massages that are not possible to explain in 2 to 3 minutes. He said if I said one thing would stay on peoples mind, but if I said do many things, people won’t remember them. His explanation helps me to find my direction and work on it instead of playing around and send so many ideas.

Three Sets of Images

On Monday March, 4 in our concept development class we posted up on the wall our three magazine’s images that we were assigned to bring. The three images should not be related to each other, but they have to make an interesting story.  We looked at all sets of three images and we should have recognized the story. Then we each took turn to tell the story that he or she got from those three pictures. Then we all started to think and used our creativity and imagination to make different stories from each sets. After guessing the story of each sets we asked the owner of the images to tell the real story. Sometimes we get the story right and other time not. Sometimes the story that students made were more interesting than the real story. I learned that we can make really good and interesting different stories from the same three pictures over and over again. I learned that if I take time and think more open, I can come up with more than one story from sets of pictures. I have to practice my creativity and imagination because I saw that my classmates made really good stories from each sets that I couldn’t make them by myself.

My pictures that I brought were an old man, a bottle of the shampan, and the war image. I made funny and not real story, but I think our teacher Jimmy didn’t like because he said that story not goanna happened. The old man was really old and he was drunk so army would not take him to a war. However, my goal was to make an unreal story to make my audience laugh. After going thought each sets, we were asked to make some really good stories from all pictures that we had. We came up with some interesting and some strange stories.

Three Frame of Story

Today on February 27, in our concept development class we were divided to eight group of three. Then our teacher Jimmy told us to make three frames sketches on separate piece of paper that could make a story. We had certain amount of time to do that, but I don’t remember how much time we had. After finishing them we put them on a wall to look and vote. We had to decide which one had interesting story and could perfectly visually communicate. The one that I chose won the game, but after listening Jimmy’s explanation about the best story teller, I change my mind. The one that I chose communicate visually but didn’t have interesting story. Anyway, this exercise beside fun gave me a lesson. It helps me to understand how to communicate visually without using any word. I can show the feeling or action by the face impression. That was a little exercise to understand how to make a successful poster or magazine advertisement without using any word. I learned that it is important to know what action or moment I have to choose to tell the story; only the important part of the story tells everything. There could be a long story that could be described by just three frames.

The next thing that we did was to look at a video that was an example of our final project for our concept development class. We had to make a video of 2 to 3 minute about global saving. We have to have a research and we have to  define the massage.

Creative Briefs

On Monday, February 25, we started our concept development class by playing a very funny game. Our teacher Jimmy asked us to set like a circle, and then he describes the game that we had to play. That game was very complicate to be explained but basically we had to pass thru the conversation and listen carefully to the person next to us. I enjoyed that game and I had really fun playing it. We had to pass the word by different tone. For example, if it was a question we have to make it like a question by our voice and the way that we said. The word went back and fort between the students with different tone. That was a fun game, but behind that game was an important lesson that a designer should pay attention to their clients and make sure that he or she gets the right point. He or she has to ask the massage and goal many times and define them by their words to the client to make sure that they understand their clients. Also, the tone and the voice are important. You might say the same word by different tone that could change the meaning of the word.

The next thing that we did was talking about the creative briefs. Jimmy showed us many different ways of doing that, but the idea was similar just the way of explaining and defining was different. That was really new thing that I learned about; I haven’t seen creative brief before, and I had no idea what they are used for. Jimmy mentioned that writing the main thing of the project is a good way of understanding it and by showing it to the client you make sure that you get the client’s points and ideas. Furthermore, it is a contract that could save the designer from future complains.

My Game Concept
On Wednesday, February 20 in concept development class we had the rest of our class presentations and critics. As class presented their games concepts we learned more and more about how to preset our works and how contact with audiences. I was really nerves that day because I knew that I had to go to present my game concept. I always get nerves when it is time to speak or talk, and the most difficult part of my nervousness is to talk English. English is my third language and I have been in the USA almost five years, so learning and talking English is very hard for me. I relaxed myself and decided to go to do my presentation. I tried to be seen that I am relax and comfortable. I did my presentation and I noticed my mistakes.

First mistake was about my elements that I had on my board. I had a drawing of little princess on my board who pointed to the story of the games. My teacher jimmy said that she is really distracting things. I had thought so when I had been working on my board, but then I wanted my little cute princess be on the board because she was cute and could get the children’s attention to the game. The second problem was my path on the game board; it wasn’t visible enough.  The third problem was my language. As I said, in some places I messed up with words that I wanted to use. I forgot what I wanted to say, so I confused my audiences. Language difficulty is the biggest problem that I have in my classes. It makes me upset and uncomfortable; I can’t say what I want and what I think. Anyway, I really enjoyed this week of classes because I learned so many thing about presentation and attitude while presentation.
